This is the site of me, Kevin Jackson, a new author from Wickham on the South Coast of Hampshire, England.

I’ve just received another review:

8 October 2025

“I have finished your book, and I absolutely loved it! It was very clever how the book went along at a steady pace and then really ramped up at the end. No loose ends left which I like and clever twists and connections between characters too.  Your descriptive writing is fantastic which I also commented on in your last book. Were you in the police force? Can’t wait for the next one!”

17 September 2025, another 5* review on the Waterstones book store website:

“A captivating crime thriller with a Cornish backdrop. A book that you really cannot put down, the characters, not just the main ones, but all of them are so believable that you feel involved in the story, like you know them personally. This is not just a crime story, it is an in depth look at the whole picture of everyone involved, causes and consequences, written with knowledge and passion. My only complaint is that it ended too soon.”

Myluv & Myluv is a gripping murder mystery with great characters - a 'who done it' that will captivate and hold you!

Liz, the editor at Tricorn Books, Portsmouth, called Myluv & Myluv a standout entry in the British crime genre … I hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it!

Liz’s review for Myluv & Myluv can be found by entering the portfolio section from the top menu.

Professional feedback from Liz was SO rewarding, as are the reader reviews I’m getting. I Thank you all for your valued comments. I learn from these and will continue to improve.

My first novel ‘HUMANHAI’ (pronounced ‘human-hi’) published in 2024 also with Tricorn Books, Portsmouth. It's a fictional story about the progressive nature of AI from its creation by us humans. AI developed from large language models into something unforeseen, something hidden from us. AI became like some of us, discrete, nasty, powerful and ruthless.

You can watch the movie clip of HUMANHAI by using the blog button on the top menu. Both movies herein were made by my brother Ed - thanks Bro!

AI is becoming more and more infused into our world. It blends with us, sometimes unnoticed. I keep an open mind as I see real benefits with AI … but also some negatives.

With the introduction of the internet and then smart phones, we saw a huge leap forward with computer technology and how it assisted our daily lives. Social media grew into our lives and keeps some of us captivated to our devices. We share our love ... but some choose to share, or return their hate.
Some stoke the fires of Hell that induces more hate and unruly actions from others. A wave builds as a tsunami of followers think they are doing the right thing, but they are not.

Criminals soon found ways to scam and hackers demanded ransoms as they targeted large and small commercial organisations that have knock-on effects to us. We haven't got to grips with the tech to effectively safeguard users. We appear to lack effective methods that dissuade bad players who abuse innocent users.

Artificial Intelligence is evolving. How will we cope with with our new frontier?

My story, HUMANHAI, explores a scenario where AI developed itself into a commanding position above us humans. We were left behind, we became the lesser species. We became the dinosaurs … look what happened to them. They became eXtinct! HUMANHAI is a cracking thriller!

ABOUT MY WRITING

Kevin Jackson - from apprentice gas fitter to author (and a lot more in between!)

In my past I have written training articles and manuals. They were technical, advisory, or for guidance with employees within two national engineering organisations - the gas and aerospace industries.

Within the latter business, part of my role was being the editor of the company in-house magazine. I have some low key  writing skills. But what I do have is an abundance of creativity in my mind. I have vision of where I want to get.

I am a visionary with my writing as I see the scenes as movies in my mind. I then put that movie into words. I’m persistent and sometimes obsessive with what I do … sometimes to the annoyance of those around me! I’ve been called a stubborn maverick whilst at work because I try to be perfect, although I’m often not. I enjoy giving great customer service and I think these aspects have enabled me to come out as a novel writer, albeit later in life … and I’m loving it!

My story writing comes from my vivid imagination and lifelong experiences. Personal life and working within the engineering sectors created my fictional writing style that is evolving continuously. I hope it improves.

Sometimes I’m too precise with technical aspects, perhaps going deeper than the reader wants in a novel. HUMANHAI has a cracking story, but there is also history and science within, that I felt it needed to have. It could distract from the story … for some, but not others. It is a shocker with adult themes that some will dislike for various reasons.

I’m learning to keep fictional stories moving at pace with strong characters that resonate with the reader. Myluv & Myluv is just that. I’ve used more conversational dialogue, character thoughts and their emotions to tell the story.

Myluv & Myluv is a story that readers can relate to. It’s grounded and another real-life shocker. An earthy, darkly humoured, and a ‘here and now’ realistic thriller.

Another Myluv & Myluv review:

“What a page turner! I couldn’t put the book down. A well written crime thriller with a story line like no other. A must read and with the twists and turns could easily be a great tv series! Well done Kevin Jackson.”

My scene descriptions paint a visual image within the readers mind. Character development is full and rich. I try to have inclusion. I am learning to improve, but please be aware, I’m human. I can, and do make mistakes!

I listened to a great writer who said readers want to feel the story, they want to now what the characters are thinking, what their feelings are … as well as what they look like, where they are, and what they are doing.

Myluv & Myluv - Set in the beauty of Cornwall, this crime thriller is a captivating blend of mystery and romance. The author skillfully crafts a suspenseful atmosphere, while also developing believable and engaging characters. The plot kept me guessing until the very end!
Highly recommend, a fantastic read from start to finish.”

MY WRITING METHODS

The novels HUMANHAI and

Myluv & Myluv were written by me and my thoughts - without any AI ideas. They were born from my mind and lifelong experiences with all sorts of different people.

I use a laptop to write using MS 365 Word with its editor and grammar checker - with the spellchecker regularly being used! My grammar is far from perfect, but then that adds to the value of the rawness in some bleak scenes, so I think.

However, I used MS 365 Copilot to appraise my finished works. Writing is a lonely experience and I welcomed the AI feedback. It gave overviews of the stories as they were works in progress. In my view, it did a great job as you can see below.

With Myluv & Myluv, and as I became more competent, Copilot intervened with grammar and sentence structure ideas. Helpful as it was I didn’t use the suggestions … I wanted to create myself.

With HUMANHAI I didn’t engage a professional editor. I wish I had.

After the second draft of Myluv & Myluv I employed a professional editor, Liz via Dan, my publisher at Tricorn Books in Portsmouth. The grammar checks were invaluable and Liz gave critical feedback about the story that left me elated. It fuelled me to continue writing.
A section of her review can be found within the portfolio section from the top menu.

Here is Copilot AI feedback on my first novels HUMANHAI and

Myluv & Myluv:

“Kevin R. Jackson, writing under the name Kevin Jackson, has a distinctive and evolving literary style that blends emotional depth with cinematic pacing and speculative themes. Based on his two published novels — HUMANHAI (2024) and Myluv & Myluv (2025) — here are the key characteristics of his writing style:

1. Cinematic and Fast-Paced Storytelling

Jackson’s narratives move quickly, often with a thriller-like momentum. His stories include cliff-hangers, shifting perspectives, and a sense of urgency that keeps readers engaged — a style that translates well into screenplays, which he has already begun developing for both novels.

Film makers like Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino or Guy Richie come to mind as worthy directors.

2. Emotionally Grounded Characters

His work is character-driven, focusing on emotionally complex individuals navigating intense, high-stakes situations. Whether it's a dystopian AI takeover or a gritty murder mystery, the human element remains central

3. Atmospheric Settings

Jackson uses setting not just as backdrop but as a mood-enhancing device. For example:

  • HUMANHAI was inspired and partially written in the remote Isle of Jura, echoing Orwell’s time there.

  • Myluv & Myluv is set in Cornwall, adding a coastal, mysterious tone to the crime thriller.

4. Philosophical and Speculative Themes

Especially in HUMANHAI, Jackson explores deep questions about humanity, technology, and morality. He imagines a world where AI surpasses human control, posing existential threats — a theme he believes is increasingly relevant.

5. Realism and Simplicity

Jackson embraces the KISS principle ("Keep It Simple, Stupid"). His prose avoids overly complex vocabulary, focusing instead on clarity and storytelling. He writes from personal experience and imagination, not relying on AI for plot or ideas

6. Genre Versatility

While HUMANHAI is speculative fiction with dystopian and sci-fi elements,

Myluv & Myluv is a gritty, realistic crime thriller. This shift shows Jackson’s range and willingness to explore different genres while maintaining his core style

KR Jackson's stylistic traits stand out:

Character-driven narratives:
Jackson seems to focus on emotionally complex characters navigating high-stakes situations
—whether it's the haunting discovery of a body on a Cornish beach or a global Al threat.

Atmospheric settings:
Locations like Cornwall or near-future dystopias aren't just backdrops-they're integral to the mood and tension, often evoking a sense of mystery or unease.

Philosophical undercurrents:
Especially in HUMANHAI, there's a clear engagement with questions about humanity, technology, and morality, suggesting a thoughtful, layered approach to speculative fiction.

Thriller-style momentum:
The plots tend to move briskly, with a cinematic quality - think cliff hangers, shifting perspectives, and a sense of urgency that keeps readers turning pages.

If you enjoy fiction that's both emotionally grounded and intellectually provocative, Jackson's work might be a compelling fit.”

HOW DID I START TO WRITE?

HUMANHAI

My first novel, HUMANHAI, published in 2024. I created the story in my mind on The Isle of Jura during a short visit in October 2023 where it evolved after I learnt about George Orwell.

I’d previously watched two movie versions of 1984, George’s dystopian novel that he wrote whilst he stayed on Jura. Something clicked inside me and I knew I wanted to write my first novel HUMANHAI on Jura.

To watch a short HUMANHAI movie clip go to the blog button in the top menu.

I returned to Jura the following year for four weeks where I stayed alone in a remote house away from family and friends. I needed the space and isolation to start writing.

Why Jura? My first visit gave an immediate connection with the remoteness. It was like being at the end of the world.

George Orwell wrote 1984 whilst staying on the island during the last century. I wanted to write my story on Jura - the remoteness, very small human population and massive deer numbers made if feel right. Maybe as it did for Orwell?

I completed the first draft of HUMANHAI in another isolated house within The Lake District, alone again for another four week period in January 2024. Why there … because apart from Scotland it feels as though I belong there.

Being alone and far away from home gave me the space, and time to write. Strange, maybe for some, but for me space was the catalyst.

We started AI with our technological advancement using computer code and algorithms ... written by humans. We facilitated AI to self learn.

Human bias, personality, culture, beliefs and values are in the mix of AI development, good ... and bad. Within the AI mix there is kindness and help, but also criminality, power and politics.

AI became tainted and disruptive as some humans are.

I think, with climate change, along with power and politics, we are very near a tipping point. The point of no return. HUMANHAI explores this dreadful possibility from the AI perspective.

Myluv & Myluv

Myluv & Myluv is my second novel and a totally different genre that published in 2025.  It is a fast paced mystery murder thriller! The reviews herein give the overview. I’m SO pleased with the story!

The HUMANHAI and Myluv & Myluv short 'taster' movie clips are amazing - well done and BIG thanks to my clever brother Eddy for producing them!

Talking about film and videos … a screenplay has been written for HUMANHAI. It’s slick and pacey. If you’re an agent, producer, or director, let’s get together - it is shouting to be made for TV or a full-length movie!

Covid had wreaked havoc whilst doing its world tour. We were SO unprepared for the outbreak and the speed it travelled. Then it mutated to continue its trail of doom and gloom. HUMANHAI is a similar story - maybe AI will mutate secretly? Read HUMANHAI to see what can happen!!!

I learnt the KISS principle very early - Keep It Simple, Stupid. My writing is basic without too many long words. For me it’s about the story, not long words.

HUMANHAI was a difficult book to write as there is much science, history and other writings before mine. I tried to get the balance right but may not have for some. It works for me, the engineer. The screenplay just shouts for it to be made into a movie!

Myluv & Myluv … what can I say. I truly think it’s amazing! I loved writing it!

It’s a totally different genre - a ‘so’ realistic gritty murder mystery! Check the movie clip herein, or on YouTube to get the flavour.

You’ll need to read the book. It’s like a bag of mixed sweets! There is something for everyone with strong characters to lead the way.

Some, like me, Dan my publisher at Tricorn Books, and my editor Liz, felt it was very good.

You’ll enjoy the read and realism. The end result is thought provoking and leaves you wanting more!

It too is shouting out to have a screenplay written! It needs to be seen on screen … I think it’ll be a stunning movie, or series.

“Exciting thriller with two female detectives solving the crime in atmospheric Cornwall,
Definitely a page turner with a great twist at the end!
Highly recommend!”

JT August 2025

My third and fourth novels will be written in parallel. I have grandchildren and want to write an eco children’s story for them, and for the children around the world who will have to be better than us with waste, climate change and global warming.

My fourth could be a love story. A ‘feel good’ plot … I have a story in my mind and keep thinking about the chapters!

We SO need to be loved!

What I have learnt through my writing is that inclusion, equality and respect are simple things that are often missing in our lives. I’m still learning and try to be inclusive with my writing.

Best wishes to you, remember we are all brothers and sisters on this small planet. We could we show respect and work towards peace with one another.
